Gourmet chow-downs with your pup

Restaurant with gourmet dog food

The dog-friendly attitudes that prevail at Napa Valley wineries extend to many of the region’s famous restaurants, as well, meaning that as long as the weather is fair, you can dine at an outdoor table with Bodie at your side. Let’s start with the dog-friendly, Michelin-recognized places first.

Restaurants with pooch-accommodating patios that earned a star in 2017 include Bouchon (French) in Yountville and Solbar (farm-to-fork) at the Solage resort in Calistoga. Receiving “Bib Gourmand” (“eateries that offer excellent food at reasonable prices”) designation and also counted among the valley’s many dog-friendly establishments are Grace’s Table (global cuisine) in downtown Napa; Two Birds/One Stone (yakitori-inspired) in a renovated winery just north of St. Helena; Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch in St. Helena (farm-to-fork); Bistro Jeanty (French) and Redd Wood (pizza/pasta) in Yountville.

In the highly competitive Napa environment, Michelin-recognized eateries hardly have a lock on good food. High on DogTrekker’s list of favorites are Angele (country French) and Napa General Store (American) in the Historic Napa Mill complex downtown; and acclaimed Morimoto’s (Japanese) just around the corner on the River Walk. On the more casual side of dog-friendly is Gott’s Roadside (burgers and more), with dog-friendly locations in St. Helena and at the Oxbow Public Market in Napa. Also worth a visit to the market are Oenotri (southern Italian) and C Casa (Mexican). Dog-friendly seating at Oxbow is on the patio on the parking lot side of the building; you can order from C Casa at an outdoor window.
