Heads on (Luxury) Beds

Can you afford to put on the Ritz? If so, the five-star Ritz-Carlton Tahoe is poised to roll out the red carpet for you and your pet. The $125 per-stay fee isn't as hefty as it sounds when amortized over several days, and there's lots to do in the immediate vicinity. Trek down to the Village at Northstar and watch ice-skaters twirl while you enjoy a libation with Spot, or plan your stay over Dec. 20-21 to enjoy a guided, pet-friendly moonlight snowshoe hike.

More moderately priced but still cushy, the Larkspur Hotel Truckee-Tahoe (formerly a Best Western) is sparkling fresh after a major remodel and conveniently located to downtown Truckee restaurants and the slopes at nearby Northstar. Its Furry Friends package includes bowls, treats and other goodies, and the canine-savvy staff can provide recommendations on where to play and dine with your pet. Don't want the package? Book at regular rates and pay a $50 per-stay pet fee.
