Napa Humane has quietly become one of the most vital lifelines for animals and their people in Napa Valley. Through a mix of veterinary care, education, training, and community support, they’ve built a model that focuses not just on placing pets in homes—but keeping them there. In 2025, their high-volume spay/neuter clinic continues to perform thousands of surgeries a year, while weekly drop-in vaccine and microchip clinics ensure pets stay healthy and safe. Their preventive care clinic, available by appointment every Tuesday, helps fill the growing gap in affordable vet access.
Their humane education and behavior programs are just as active. Pet Education Manager Alyssa Vincent leads a roster of dog training options—from recall workshops and puppy playdates to leash manners clinics—designed to strengthen the bond between dogs and the people who love them. Their behavior hotline remains a quiet but powerful service, offering families tools and guidance that often prevent a trip to the shelter.
Napa Humane’s partnership with the Napa County Animal Shelter has deepened as well. Twice a month, they bring a veterinarian onsite to provide essential medical care for adoptable animals, while also delivering hundreds of procedures and wellness services through the year. And for pet owners facing housing insecurity, job loss, or financial strain, their safety-net programs offer pet food, vet scholarships, and case-by-case support to help animals stay with their families.
The summer season brings a full slate of dog-friendly events that keep tails wagging and the community connected. On Tuesday, June 17, Napa Humane hosts a community mixer at Napa Yard from 4 to 6 p.m., where leashed dogs are welcome and a portion of drink sales benefit their work. June also includes two Dine & Donate evenings—Heritage Eats on June 23 and Mothers Tacos on June 30—each donating 20 percent of proceeds when you mention Napa Humane. Then on July 9, Napa Valley Bistro joins the fun with an all-day giveback. Fall brings their booths to First Thursdays at Oxbow Commons on September 4 and October 2—great nights for live music, food trucks, shopping, and getting to know the team behind the mission.
Also coming up this fall: the launch of Napa Humane’s 2026 Pet Photo Calendar Contest, with entries opening September 1. Pet lovers can submit photos of dogs, cats, and rabbits, and the top fundraisers win feature spots in the glossy calendar. There’s even an option to reserve your pet’s birthday or adoption date. While Pawsport Napa Valley hasn’t yet been confirmed for 2026, all signs point to its return next March—so stay tuned. Whether you’re enjoying a cocktail for a cause, dining out for good, or snapping a perfect portrait of your furry best friend, Napa Humane offers so many ways to connect, give back, and celebrate the joy of animals in our lives.
