Outdoor dining with your pup

By: DogTrekker Staff
A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

Sure, you can get takeout food delivered by DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub or another service, but who wants to eat out of cardboard or Styrofoam when you don’t have to? Instead, why not get yourself and your pup out of quarantine and enjoy some local-motion at a restaurant serving meals at outdoor, dog-friendly tables. Expect to be “socially distanced” from people not in your party, but expect lots of options, too. Here’s a sampling.

Know first that almost all Concord restaurants with patio dining are dog-friendly! Just remember to be respectful and keep you pup out of other people’s spaces.

VisitConcordCA.com offers a listing of al-fresco dining options. Here at DogTrekker, we’ve vetted a few dog-friendly options, including Lazy Dog, Hop Grenade (primo location on Todos Santos Plaza in the center of town where the new Concord Visitor Center has reopened), Eureka! Guadalajara Grill, Concord Tap House and Canasta Kitchen.

To avoid possible disappointment, we recommend you check websites for coronavirus guidelines, call before you go and bring your own water bowls and snacks for your pup.
