DogTrekker.com reader Scott Nelson shares his favorite dog-friendly experience close to his home in the East Bay:

"One of my favorite dog adventures close to home is to kayak with my dog from Encinal Ramp or Grand Street Boat Ramp and circumnavigate Coast Guard Island. Both Encinal and Grand provide dog-friendly water access (it's a good idea to bring drinking water for your dog; only salt water is available at these sites).

Coast Guard Island is conveniently located near Brotzeit restaurant and biergarten (on the Oakland side). Brotzeit welcomes dogs to its patio dining area and offers watercraft guest slips for its patrons."

We love hearing paw-tested stories from our readers and want to share them with other DogTrekkers. Please join our growing group of official ‘Paw-Testers’ by writing in to tell us about your favorite dog-friendly places in California.

Share your favorite California dog experience, along with a photo or two, and we’ll post your trek in this section. Thanks and happy DogTrekking!
