With a thriving craft beer scene and easy access to top wine producers, Sacramento is a tasting tour hotspot. Select taprooms in the city and surrounding communities welcome pups, and sightseers who share their stops on social media can photograph Instagram-worthy murals along the way. The Hyatt Centric Downtown Sacramento accommodates four-legged VIPs, and it makes a comfortable starting point for local adventures.
The Hyatt Centric is a modern addition to the downtown Sacramento scene, with a lively rooftop bar and an on-site restaurant serving California fare. It’s close to the Golden 1 Center, Old Sacramento and shopping at Downtown Commons. Up to two pets with a combined weight of 75 pounds are welcome per room, with a non-refundable deposit of $75.
Within walking distance of the Hyatt Centric are some of the more than 800 murals in Sacramento. Several murals are clustered within blocks of Alaro Craft Brewery, where pups can flop down on one of two covered patios as family members sample beers and enjoy American and Spanish snacks. Fieldwork pours seasonal brews, wine and non-alcoholic drinks about two blocks away.
A mural covers an exterior wall at Urban Roots Brewery & Smokehouse on V Street, which has patio seating. The brand’s Bawk! by Urban Roots serves house brews and chicken at dog-friendly outdoor tables. Bike Dog Brewery now has taprooms on Broadway and across the river in West Sacramento. Jackrabbit Brewing Company and The Barn, a two-acre destination by Drake’s Brewing, also occupy dog-centric West Sacramento digs.
Acheson Wine Company operates a pet-friendly tasting room in the heart of Sacramento, right across the street from Truitt Bark Park. About 15 miles south in the Clarksburg American Viticultural Area, Scribner Bend Vineyards has kid-friendly, dog-friendly outdoor seating and food options like deli classics and wood-fired pizzas. Leashed dogs can also visit Julietta Winery, on the other side of Clarksburg.
