Turquoise blue persuasion in pollock pines

A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

Once you reach Pollock Pines on Highway 50, you’re deep into Gold Country. And on a hot summer day, nothing could be more appealing than a dip in a turquoise-blue lake and a hike around it with your four-legged friend. Jenkinson Lake is the centerpiece of 650-acre Sly Park Recreation Area, and it’s gorgeous.

The 8-mile trail around the lake’s perimeter branches off to a surprisingly dramatic waterfall where you’ll definitely want to pause for selfies.

The downside for DogTrekkers at this popular camping, hiking and boating destination: Dogs are not supposed to go in the water, although they’re welcome everywhere else. Claim a waterfront picnic spot, bring a bucket to wet your pet, take a dip on either end of your hike and you’ll all be happy!
