There’s nothing like spending a day in nature with your four-legged friend to bring you down to Earth. And this year, you can celebrate Earth Day by making pawprints in a national park without having to pay at the gate.
The nationwide National Park Week promotion is good April 21-29, and while rules at many parks put strict limits on where you can go with your furry friend, there’s still plenty you and Fido can enjoy together.
National parks in Northern California that are at least partially dog friendly and normally charge a fee include Yosemite and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Of course, you can enjoy no-fee parks such as Point Reyes National Seashore and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area for free any day of the year.
