Cima Collina produces artisan wines from small Monterey vineyards. The idea of an “artisan wine” is the partnership with growers who meticulously cultivate vineyards, the insistence on using only carefully chosen fruit, and the creation of wine on a barrel-by-barrel basis.

Cima Collina is pleased to offer this new canine-inspired wine: Howlin' Good Red. This is a rich, ripe, red blend made up of Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc from three different vintages. This doggone good Monterey County Red Wine is to drool over–ripe, luscious, fun and just right with that BBQ bone or when the pack is over for a party.

It’s even more of a tail-wagger because Cima Collina will donate 25% of the profits from the sale of this wine to The SPCA of Monterey County ( for the wonderful work they do for our furry friends!

The tasting room is open daily. ?Please check winery website for days and hours of operation.

Monterey wines rely on warm sun, cool fog and nurturing soils resulting in intense varietal flavor. Chardonnay, pinot blanc and riesling are notable varietals grown near the coast, while reds are more common in the warmer southern areas. You can sample them all while your dog waits patiently (we hope!) by your side at dozens of pet-friendly tasting rooms from Cannery Row to Carmel to the Santa Lucia Highlands. Best bet: Pick a region and check out our recommended itineraries. more »

They say that Monterey Wine Country is "where great taste begins." We know from experience that it's also a great place to experience dog-friendly hospitality along the River Road Wine Trail. Rolling hills misted with morning fog create memorable panoramas, while the climate is comfortable year-round. Pack a picnic, a camera and a leash and invite Fido to share in the memories. more »

Monterey County is vast, stretching south through Big Sur and east through the winery-rich Carmel Valley and into the Santa Lucia Mountains. You and your four-legger are sure to have doggone good times no matter which part of Monterey Wine Country you visit. Suggestions for a yappy day:

• Pick up a brochure or let the signs guide you along the River Road Wine Trail. Sniff out Pessagno Winery, where the vineyard dogs come out to greet you; or Wrath Winery, where you and yours can enjoy a picnic and great views of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Another memorable choice is the  Hahn/Smith Hook tasting room, featuring an expansive deck with sweeping views of the mountain-rimmed Salinas Valley.  more »
