Crissy Field

Crissy Field

Crissy Field is a great place to enjoy with your dog in San Francisco. It used to be an airfield that belonged to the United States Army. In 1994, the National Park Service took over the area, along with help from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and it opened to the public in 2001. Most of the old buildings are still there, pretty much the way they were in the 1920s.

You can take a leisurely walk (or bike ride) along a well-kept path, with unforgettable views of the bay and the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge. You’ll walk along sandy bay shores, find inviting picnic spots and see picturesque tidal marsh outlooks. Windsurfers go there regularly, always fun to watch. The scenic trail weaves its way through Crissy Field, connecting the lively Marina Green to the historic Fort Point.

Dogs are allowed to romp off-leash in certain areas of the shoreline; check signage to make sure you’re in a legal area. Please be sure you have full voice control of your dog if off-leash. Please also be mindful of the Wildlife Protection Area and fenced areas.

At the western edge of Crissy Field, the Warming Hut is ready to serve up a delightful array of refreshments, including tea, hot chocolate, and Equator Coffee as well as snacks sourced from local and Californian producers.

Accessible restrooms can be found at East Beach, the Golden Gate Bridge Plaza and at the Warming Hut.
