Billed as 'fun for 2-legged & 4-legged animals alike', this park reopened with a celebration in June 2009.  Adjacent to the C.V. Starr Community Center, this fenced park has a separate area for small dogs.

The summer crowds are gone, cool weather has set in and Mendocino lodging properties are tempting visitors with low-season specials. The boutique Little River Inn, a bluff-top property with sweeping ocean views, leads the pet-friendly pack by offering 25 percent off on any room if booked by Nov. 15 for a minimum two-night stay between Nov. 26 and Dec. 21. Another fine choice: the Beachcomber Motel in Fort Bragg, which has its own fenced, off-leash dog area and offers “pet suites” in addition to regular rooms with fireplaces and panoramic views. more »

While you can drive from one end of Mendocino County to the other in a morning or afternoon (it’s 102 winding miles from Leggett to Gualala on scenic Highway 1) this intoxicating stretch of coastline is best savored at a snail’s pace. Our advice: Hang your hat (and leash) for at least a night in one of the many dog-friendly lodgings situated within sight and sound of the sea.  more »
