Rocket Dog Rescue, the name says it all. We are an all-volunteer nonprofit group dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned animals from euthanasia in overcrowded Bay Area shelters. We literally give them a second chance at life. And everybody deserves a second chance.

Rocket Dog Rescue places non-aggressive dogs into temporary foster homes where they are socialized, spay/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical or behavioral conditions which would otherwise limit their adoptability. We then actively seek out permanent quality homes for these deserving animals through our volunteer network, online adoption page, weekend adoption fairs, and neighborhood poster campaigns.

Meet Pops. Things didn't look good for this elderly terrier mix when he landed in the Baldwin Park shelter in Los Angeles with no history and several health issues. The good folks at Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in SF were willing to take the little guy in, but they weren't exactly local. more »

Meet Duncan (in beige) and Joey (in white), two young brothers in arms who stuck by each other through abusive experiences and have landed safely at Rocket Dog Rescue, where they're now looking for a forever home that keeps them together.  more »
Back in 2001, Pali Boucher founded Rocket Dog Rescue in honor of Leadbelly, a dog she bailed out of a San Francisco city shelter and ultimately credited with turning her own life around. Legendary as a friend of the dogs in the overcrowded, under-resourced Northern California city and county shelters, she's built a notable network of volunteers dedicated to saving them, at the rate of hundreds of dogs a year. Dogs who need a safe place to land for a bit of extra nurturing, some medical attention, or some emotional TLC--impossible in the shelter environment--find a haven with Rocket Dog's dedicated fosters until their perfect home comes along. And when they're ready to meet their prospective new families, Rocket Dog's weekly mobile adoptions in San Francisco offer just the opportunity.  more »
sadie Rocket Dog Rescue founder Pali Boucher  has become something of a local legend, a constant presence at San Francisco Animal Care and Control, where she's earned the respect and cooperation of the staff for saving the lives of dogs in imminent danger of being euthanized. An all-volunteer organization that pulls dogs from overcrowded shelters around the Bay Area and fosters them until their forever homes present themselves, Rocket Dog has a stellar track record of lifesaving—more than 350 dogs in 2010 alone.  more »
