Tahoe City Lakeside Trail
Downtown Tahoe City
Tahoe City, California 96145
A mile-long "missing link" between two legs of the North Shore's 19-mile bike path around the river opened in June in Tahoe City.
The Lakeshore Trail is actually a waterfront promenade set about with plazas and picnic areas. Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail, but not in the lake.
The $12 million "miracle mile," decades in the making, was financed by the Tahoe Conservancy, North Tahoe Resort Association and public agencies.
It is now possible to hike all the way from Tahoe City to Squaw Valley on a paved trail. A new trailhead with parking, restrooms and a children's playground has opened at Squaw. Parking is free.
