Tamarack Lodge, dating back to 1924, creaks of woodsy, log-sy nostalgia—which is not to say that the rooms are anything less than modern in terms of amenities.

Nestled against the foot of the Sierra and steps from Twin Lakes, the lodge has been named one of America's top 50 ski resort properties by Conde Nast Traveler and one of Sunset magazine's top 10 lakeside resorts.

Tamarack Lodge is one mile from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and 2.5 miles from the town center of Mammoth Lakes. Dogs welcome in cabins but not lodge.

Follow 50 up and over the mountains to Carson City and head south on Highway 395, a designated national scenic byway skirting the snow-capped Eastern Sierra. more »
