DogTrekker.com launched 15 years ago, guided by a mission to leave no dog behind – whether at home, while traveling, or in shelters. Since June 2011, the platform has become California’s trusted source for pup-friendly travel inspiration. While engaging millions of loyal readers, DogTrekker has also supported animal welfare groups across the Golden State

Thousands of DogTrekker website and blog stories spotlight hidden beaches, hiking trails, alpine lakes, paddling routes, train outingstasting rooms, city parks, restaurant patios, and accommodations that roll out the red carpet for four-legged family members. Through its pioneering Leave Only Paw Prints® campaign, DogTrekker helps travelers protect pups and preserve the environment on each adventure.

More than 500,000 California households have connected with adoption and rescue organizations through DogTrekker content. These groups foster dogs, support community events, provide resources during natural disasters, and fund critical programs that keep dogs safe, healthy, and in loving homes. From the beginning, we’ve been proud to support the pet welfare champions who share our mission, and we remain grateful for their tireless commitment to all of our best friends.

It is important to note that our California travel destination partners go beyond supporting rescue and adoption. They also exemplify what it means to be dog-passionate destinations, weaving pet-friendly lodging, dining, trails, and cultural experiences into the heart of their communities. We work together so that every visitor with a pup feels welcomed, celebrated and inspired to return again and again.
