Off the beaten path in Marin

By: DogTrekker Staff
A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

Visiting Marin County? Not even all the locals are hip to the hike-in pancake breakfasts-with-a-view served up at the West Point Inn 1,785 feet above the Pacific on the shoulder of Mount Tamalpais

It’s only a two-mile walk in if you take the Old Stage Road connecting to dog-friendly Marin County Municipal Water District trails. Dogs aren’t allowed in the building or on the deck of the rustic inn but can join you on the expansive picnic grounds outside. The menu includes flapjacks, sausage and coffee at $10 for adults and $5 for kids (add $1 for orange juice or a side of melon). For dates, parking and hiking-trail options, click here.
