A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

Crispy fall weather and light crowds are in effect throughout Mariposa County during Autumn, making this a great time to take the family (including the four-legged members) on vacation. Mariposa County offers and ideal dog-friendly escape with wide open spaces to hike, swim, fish and explore with your dog. Following are some of DogTrekker’s favorite lodging properties in Mariposa County. All are unique and welcome dogs.

AutoCamp Yosemite (located in Midpines, west of the park) showcases lodging in customized Airstream trailers and modern cabins, all with private patios, fire pits and grills. Dog-friendly Airstreams and cabins are limited. DogTrekkers must have advance approval, so call ahead to reserve.

The Redwoods in Yosemite (within the park, in the Wawona area) is a compound of more than three dozen fully equipped, pet-friendly vacation homes, with several dog-friendly hiking trails nearby.

Tenaya Lodge & Cabins (in Fish Camp, near the southern entrance to Yosemite) is a full-service resort. In addition to the lodge, Tenaya has dog-friendly cottages and recently added 50 dog-friendly Explorer Cabins. Many dog-friendly recreational opportunities are available just steps from your room.
