If we had Valentine’s weekend off, a significant other to share it with and the bling to do it right, we’d steer our sweetie—and the furry family member we wouldn’t dream of leaving behind—straight to a place where we could cuddle up and focus on each other.
A fireplace would be nice. So would a location where we could enjoy the moods of the surging winter sea.
We’re thinking somewhere coastal in Monterey or Sonoma counties for a one-nighter, Mendocino for two. Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula is one of our favorite locales for dogcentric getaways, and Andril Fireplace Cottages, with a park-like setting and quick access to the Monterey Coastal Trail and Asilomar State Beach, is one of our favorite places to rest our heads (and paws).
In Mendocino County, we’re partial to Stanford Inn By the Sea, where wood-burning fireplaces in the rooms are set and ready to light when guests arrive and canine guests are as welcome as people.
