At BADRAP, it’s ok to ask. it’s important to give

Some weeks ago, animal shelters like BADRAP were understandably concerned that Covid19 would spark a massive influx of surrendered pets. Thankfully that scenario hasn't played out in the Bay Area.

Food insecurity and financial hardship, though, are the realities that have crept up and bring a new worry about surrendered pets. Unfortunately, many pet pantries and food banks are having a hard time meeting the need and most low cost spay/neuter clinics have shuttered. Talking with out of work pet owners over the past month has been sobering. People are scared.

In the interest of reaching a larger number of families so they can stay committed to their pets, we've set up a matching system so helpers can "adopt" pet families and help see them through. Whether it's to donate some pet food, support them with an occasional bag of groceries to help them get by, or direct them to low cost veterinary services, the smallest bit of help can make a substantial shift in someone's ability to get to the other side of this crisis with their pet family intact.

Included at the “connect” webpage listed above is a growing list of resources including pet food banks that would love your support. This is an anyone, anywhere initiative. Not just pit bulls and not just the Bay Area.

We're so happy to say that we've seen an outpouring of support from people who want to help and are starting to connect them with families who are feeling the pinch right now. Please share this resource with others, including and especially our neighbors who might be having a hard time getting by. Thank you for keeping our pet community strong.
