The Alamo Creek Bikeway runs through Nelson Park in Vacaville, making it ideal for dog walking, and an ideal spot to park to access the path. Located next to Vaca Pena Middle School on Marshall Road, this 10.5-acre neighborhood park has benches, sports fields and a playground. A large portion of the park is devoted to softball fields and a concession stand (no dogs are permitted on the softball field).
Mature shade trees offer respite from the heat on warm days, so this is a nice stop for hikers to rest in the shade while walking on the Bikeway. The park also has a drinking fountain if you need to fill your water bottle.
