If you love wine and dogs, visiting a winery can be a great way to spend a day. But not all wineries are dog-friendly, so it’s important to research ahead of time. Luckily, California is home to some amazing dog-friendly wineries you should consider visiting! Here are five of the best in no particular order:

Robert Mondavi Winery

Located in Oakville, CA in the heart of Napa Valley, Robert Mondavi Winery offers visitors a classic wine-country experience. Dogs are welcome at this scenic location; they just have to remain on a leash while walking.

The winery is a dog-friendly property for three tasting experiences. Dogs are welcome on outdoor patios as part of the Estates Collection Tasting, To Kalon Reserve Tasting or Wine Club Member Tasting.

Wine varieties include cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir and chardonnay.

Dutcher Crossing Winery, Dry Creek Valley

On the weekends, Dutcher Crossing Winery is a great place to bring the whole family – including your four-legged friends! Make sure to bring along some treats for your pup because on special occasions, Debra and Dutchess will hand out snacks for their furry guests.

While enjoying the beautiful views of Dry Creek Valley, you can also take part in activities such as bocce ball and horseshoes. The back patio has plenty of seating for everyone so don’t forget to bring a picnic blanket and some snacks!

Of course, the main event is the wine tasting. Pick from their selection of estate zinfandels and other small-production wines to find the perfect pairing for your picnic. After visiting, don’t forget to pick up a winery-branded dog collar for your pup on your way out!

Vannatta Wine and Art Gallery, Elk Grove CA

Vannatta Wine serves in an informal tasting room that offers a unique, relaxed and intimate tasting experience.

Visit Vannatta Wine to learn about the wine they are passionate about, relax with friends and family for a picnic and enjoy a lovely weekend in a fun, charming setting. Meet Harry, Vannatta Wine’s loving winery dog!

Dogs are welcome inside as well as outside in the picnic area. A water bowl and dog treats are provided for furry friends.

Wrath Wines, Soledad CA

Wrath Wines is located in Monterey County and specializes in producing small lots of terroir-driven wines such as Santa Lucia Highlands pinot noir, syrah and chardonnay. As a bonus, they offer picnic supplies so visitors can enjoy a delightful lunch while sampling some lovely wines surrounded by beautiful scenery with their pups nearby! They also have a dog-friendly tasting room in Carmel.

Tobin James Cellars, Paso Robles

Tobin James Cellars is located near Paso Robles in San Luis Obispo County

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor grotto area, and they have a nice grassy area where you pup can play. No dogs in the indoor tasting rooms.

You will find more than 30 different grape varieties, from dry whites & sparkling rosés through luscious dessert ports & zinfandels (all available for sampling). What better way to enjoy one of nature’s spectacular sunsets?

California really does have something for everyone – award-winning wines or beautiful landscapes – but why not combine both experiences when visiting one of these dog-friendly wineries? Next time you’re planning a getaway with your pup make sure you add one (or more!) of these incredible destinations to your list!
