Looking for the perfect companion for your outdoor fun? Look no further than this smiley guy. At 5 years old and 60-ish pounds, Wilson here is just the right size for long walks in the country or long snuggles on the couch, both of which he likes. He's a mix of Australian shepherd and Newfoundland, so he's got a big brain, a good work ethic, and just wants to learn the right thing to do so you and he can be pals forever.

Wilson's currently residing at the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, where he and numerous other dogs (as well as quite a few other species) have found a safe haven when they need one. People helping animals, and animals returning the favor, is what the Animal Center is all about, with adoption, vet care, and educational programs from You Can Be a Veterinarian camps for local kids to free The Business of Saving Lives workshops for animal welfare professionals.

Also, in September, the Animal Center hosts the renowned Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon, a fun day at the beach for you and your canine companion whether you decide to participate or just cheer on your favorites. Maybe your dog is new to surfing? No problem, the Animal Center holds classes all summer!
