Here at DogTrekker.com, we’re growing our dog-friendly vacation-rental pages as fast as we can check out the properties and management companies that come into our radar zone. DogTrekker.com has begun to include description pages for individual properties, giving you more detailed information on available homes and condos. See Coast Getaways in Mendocino as an example.
To view our recommended vacations rentals throughout California, select your destination on the DogTrekker.com home page, and then look for “vacation rentals” under the “lodging” tab. We include pet policies and fees for each property, but you’ll want to confirm the details with the management company when you book your reservation. Need even more choices of vacation rentals for the destination you plan to visit? Here are some other ways to sniff out the perfect place to hang your hat (and leash).
VRBO.com: With more than half a million listings worldwide, Vacation Rentals By Owner is the world’s largest owner-operated listing site in existence. The quickest way to find dog-friendly properties is to enter your destination and the words “and dog” (for example, “Monterey CA and dog”). Dog-friendly properties are further identified with a paw print next to the listing.
HomeAway.com: This extensive, worldwide site includes listings for owner-rented properties as well as for those managed by agencies. Select your destination and go to the “more filters” button to find the “pets considered” option. Be sure to hit “apply filters” before continuing your search.
FlipKey.com: On this site, owned by TripAdvisor.com, select your destination, hit “search” and then go to the “amenities” button on the left side of the page to bring up a menu that includes “pet friendly.”
