The good folks at Humane Society Silicon Valley are going all out for Maddie's Pet Adoption Days, with multiple adoption stations. Drop by their Animal Community Center in Milpitas, plus the PETCO Neighborhood Adoption Centers in San Jose and Sunnyvale. Things will be really festive at the Milpitas location, where friendly staff will be on hand to help prospective adopters make the perfect match and ensure a smooth transition for the new family member. Adding to the fun: food trucks for the humans, and shopping opportunities galore for dog goodies at HSSV's Whole Pet store.

Kuna and Phoebe
Luna and Phoebe

At last year's event, HSSV found homes for over 220 critters, and they're hoping to do even better this year. They want to make it easy for you and your new soul-mate to be together, so if you can't make it to the event itself on May 31and June 1, their Trial Adoption Program will help you adopt a pet for free now through May 31.

Maybe you'd like this little duo in your life? Luna (on the right) and Phoebe met at the shelter and have been strongly bonded BFFs ever since. Luna landed at HSSV with a severe facial injury that required the removal of an eye, but her sunny disposition and outgoing nature remained unscathed. Meanwhile, little Phoebe was so terrified in the shelter that she huddled in the corner of her kennel, shaking. Someone had the idea to put them together, and the rest is history. Luna has boosted Phoebe's confidence in the world, and Phoebe returns the favor by helping Luna navigate her surroundings. They're up for adoption together; learn more about them here.
