A dog perches on a stone wall amid the arid expanse of Palm Springs, with tall palm trees standing against a backdrop of rugged mountains. The partly cloudy sky allows beams of bright sunlight to illuminate the landscape around them.
Dogs love the desert.

When Condé Nast Traveler announced its prestigious Readers’ Choice Awards 2024, two California hotels made the list of 10 Best Hotels in the World. The luxurious, adults-only Palm Springs properties earned accolades after beating out hotels across the United States and the globe.

Hermann Bungalows landed at an impressive #3, while Colony Palms Hotel secured the #7 spot. What makes these properties so special? Discover why each is an ideal overnight option for you and your pup.

The Greater Palm Springs region boasts year-round sunshine, architectural splendor and dog-friendly parks and attractions, from desert hiking trails to outdoor cafes to breweries.

Two recent Condé Nast honorees welcome four-legged guests. Hermann Bungalows is a 24-room resort with upscale amenities like 600-count linens, Nest thermostats, floor-to-ceiling windows and private patios with nature views.

For a 1930s gem with Art Deco design highlights, book rooms at the Colony Palms Hotel. The downtown Palm Springs property, also part of the Hermann Luxury Resorts Portfolio, has poolside dining, spa services and dog-friendly rooms with direct outdoor access.

Dogs must be leashed while exploring these two well-landscaped hotels. Please note, each property charges a substantial $150 pet fee and asks that guests take pups off-premises for bathroom breaks. Front desk staffers provide waste bags upon request. Watch the hotels’ websites for special offers that might include seasonal discounts, complimentary breakfast or resort credits for extended stays.
