Not so long ago, little Troy here was on the streets. He was dirty. He was missing a lot of meals. He was also a really, really good escape artist, eluding his would-be rescuer, a kind policeman, for three weeks before he was captured and brought to safety.

Since then, Troy's become quite the star at Pets Lifeline in Sonoma. Since he doesn't have to be scared all the time, he's discovered that being a lap dog is pretty great—in between playtime sessions, of course. This little Chihuahua mix, who's still a youngster, has a big personality; he's looking for a lifelong companion to share adventures and stories of the road.

Giving dogs like Troy a safe place to land is all in a day's work for Pets Lifeline, Sonoma County's original animal shelter. Besides taking in foundling critters and getting them to loving homes, Pets Lifeline offers a wealth of community support services, from spay/neuter and vaccination to dog training classes and humane education for kids.

All this happens thanks to Pets Lifeline's many volunteers and community supporters. On Saturday, September 19, they'll be gathering in a local barn for Paws for a Cause, Pets Lifeline's annual gala, with a gourmet dinner, live music and a silent auction. A few tickets are still available—get yours and join the party for a great cause!
