Choose Redding with your dog

Aussie mix walking in Redding

Everyone knows dogs have excellent taste in art, so Redding made sure its world-renowned Sundial Bridge was accessible to all species of architecture lovers!

The iconic, Santiago Calatrava-designed pedestrian bridge is not only a stunning sight, but links dog-friendly trails on both sides of the Sacramento River. From there, you and your buddy can enjoy the paved trail around the McConnell Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, refresh at the Turtle Bay Exploration Park café, and/or picnic at the benches, tables, and lawns around the plaza.

When you’re ready for more, explore the scenery along the river on the 17.2 mile paved stretch from the Sundial Bridge to the Shasta Dam. If the journey is your destination, more than 60 miles of other trails connect at various points, many with great views of the surrounding foothills. Rest up in any of Redding’s pet-friendly hotels , and go back for more in the morning!
