A Milo update: we need your help to survive

A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

We are still up and running, rescuing and adopting!  Both our Sanctuary location and Milo Point Richmond are very busy (by appointment only) getting lots of animals fostered and adopted.  Volunteers are helping out a lot, and the Mendocino Sanctuary is enjoying a huge increase in adoptions and fostering (which usually ends up with an adoption through or to the foster).

Those interested in adopting find they have the time now to get out of town and meet our Sanctuary animals. We are being careful to be sure it sounds like a good fit before we invite people drive up – but once here they love the chance to go on little hikes and taking a dog to the creek. It’s easy to keep the six-foot required distances up here.

We are rescuing from quite a few Northern California and Central Valley locations.  We have a small crew of dedicated employees working at Milo Point Richmond, and minimal access for the public into the building. We have puppies in foster care, we get many more applications to adopt than there are puppies, but then there are always more puppies coming of age – they are endless!

During this difficult time, we have pared down our animal care team, and we are struggling financially. The future of Milo is at risk and we hope those who can will make a donation now! Thank you and wishing you and yours safety and good health.
