Berkeley Humane’s 12th annual Bark & Meow Around the Block returns on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2700 Ninth St., Berkeley. This free, family-friendly street fair is one of the largest same-day pet adoption events in California. The adopt-a-thon will feature hundreds of dogs, cats, and even rabbits and birds from shelters and rescues across the Bay Area, all looking for their forever homes.
In addition to the adoptable animals, attendees can enjoy live music, food trucks, a beer garden, and numerous vendors selling pet-related products and services. This event fosters a sense of community among animal lovers and aims to raise awareness for shelter animals.
For the first time, Berkeley Humane is partnering with Vets in Vans and Friends of Alameda Animal Shelter to provide free vaccines and microchips to pet families in need. Whether you’re looking to adopt or simply enjoy a day of fun with fellow animal lovers, this event promises something for everyone.
