Pull up a pillow (and a dog bed) and stay the night

While the Tri-Valley region is within easy commuting distance of the Bay Area and Sacramento, after a day of hiking or touring the wine or craft beer trails, it’s always nice to stay for dinner, pull into a nearby hotel and spend the night. Tri-Valley has accommodations to fit any taste or budget and by our count, over two-dozen are dog-friendly. The Hyatt House in Pleasanton even has their own resident dog who hangs out in reception. Woof it up at little Yosemite

Wildflowers and waterfalls are the star spring attractions in Little Yosemite, a scenic gorge on Alameda Creek in Sunol Regional Wilderness. On a 3-mile round trip along the Canyon View Trail, you’ll traverse open meadows studded with wildflowers, walk through woods and encounter dramatic serpentine and basalt outcrops along the crashing creek. The East Bay Regional Park District, a network of 65 parks spanning Alameda and Contra Costa counties, is cherished by dogs and their people, and rightly so. Its 1,250 miles of trails dip and dive over 120,536 acres of open space and are enjoyed by hikers, bikers and equestrians as well as DogTrekkers grateful for the opportunity to disconnect from the leash. Meet Robin Hood! This foxy little guy, currently enjoying the hospitality of the East Bay SPCA while he awaits his new home, got his name for his free spirit and his resemblance to the Disney cartoon character. Now he wants to join your merry band. He's a young Chihuahua mix, but a bit bigger; like a small terrier. At 2, he's old enough to know his own mind; he's smart and independent, fond of making his own decisions. But he's also willing to listen to you and go along, especially if treats are involved.
