Aldridge Lane Park in Corralitos is a 3-acre community space that works well for a casual outing with your dog, though you’ll want to be aware of how the park is laid out since it’s shared with the equestrian crowd. The main draw is that it’s genuinely accessible and low-key—no reservations needed, just show up during daylight hours and enjoy.
Your dog needs to stay on leash while you’re here, and you’ll need to pick up after them, which is standard. The park has a small horse arena that people can use on a drop-in basis, plus a basketball court, tennis court, wheelchair-accessible volleyball court, playground, horseshoe pit, and restrooms. The parking lot has 25 spaces, so it’s not huge, but that also means it doesn’t get overwhelming.
The equestrian rules keep things organized—riders wear helmets, and horses stay in their designated area with a maximum of three in the arena at once. This separation means your leashed dog can enjoy the rest of the grounds without getting stressed around horses. The horse trailer unloading area and hitching posts are located in front of the Grange Hall across the street, so that activity happens away from where you’d typically walk your dog.
Getting here from Highway 1 is straightforward: take the Freedom Boulevard exit and head east for about 5 miles until you hit Corralitos Road. Turn left and drive another 1-2 miles, then take a left on Aldridge Lane. You’ll spot the pony ring and park entrance within a block on your right. It’s a pretty easy trip if you’re coming from the Santa Cruz area, and the rural setting around Corralitos gives it a different feel than your typical suburban park.
