Baldwin Dog Park in Concord has two separate fenced areas that let you split time between different dog groups depending on your dog’s size and temperament. One section is strictly for small dogs under 30 pounds, which means if you’ve got a tiny dog who gets nervous around larger pups, you have a dedicated space. The smaller dogs can also use the larger area if you think your dog would do fine mixing with bigger dogs, but anything over 30 pounds stays out of the small dog section entirely.

The dog park sits within John F. Baldwin Park, a community space that’s got plenty going on around it. You’ll find the Concord Senior Center, basketball and softball facilities, bocce courts, and a children’s play area all on the same grounds. It’s the kind of park where you might see families doing their own thing while you’re working your dog’s energy out.

A few logistics to keep in mind: your dog needs to be leashed when entering and exiting the park, and leashes are required everywhere else on the property too. The park closes every Tuesday for maintenance, so plan accordingly. Bad weather shuts it down as well, which makes sense for the grassy areas.

If you’re wondering whether it’s safe to bring your dog on a particular day, especially after rain, the City of Concord maintains a Rain Hotline you can call to check on opening or closure status before you head over. Given that Concord weather can be unpredictable, that’s definitely worth a quick call rather than a wasted trip. The maintenance schedule means you’ve got six days to work with each week, which gives you decent flexibility for regular visits.
