Banna Park’s dog park sits in a corner lot with decent shade from mature trees and a small grass area that stays surprisingly green even in summer. The setup is straightforward—a fenced enclosure with room to move but not sprawling—and the ground is mostly dirt and worn grass, which drains reasonably well after rain. You’ll notice the park fills up quickly on weekend mornings, so arriving before 9 a.m. gives you a quieter window, especially on Saturdays.
Dogs of all sizes run together in the same enclosure with no separate areas. The park operates on the honor system—bring your own water, which matters in Covina’s heat. There’s a hose connection on the grounds, though it’s not always immediately obvious. Leashes are required everywhere outside the fenced dog park area, and the surrounding park itself is fairly compact, so this isn’t a destination for serious trail work or distance walking. The dog park gates don’t have formal hours posted, but the park itself closes at dusk.
Banna Park sits on N Grand Avenue, a major north-south corridor through Covina, so parking is straightforward along the street or in the small lot. The neighborhood is residential and fairly quiet, which keeps the dog park from drawing the massive crowds you’d see at some of the bigger regional parks. Bring water in the hotter months—the June through September stretch is intense in Covina, and the shade, while helpful, doesn’t compensate for the temperature. Spring and fall are genuinely pleasant times to visit. The park is also walking distance from Covina’s downtown area if you want to combine a dog park visit with a short walk around the town, though the dog park itself is the main draw rather than a stopping point on a larger outing.
