Amidst the natural serenity that surrounds you, Big Sur Lodge offers the comfort and convenience of 62 cottage-style rooms with a wide array of options. While you stay in the breathtaking beauty of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, even more exciting adventures and activities lay ready just a short drive away. The rugged beauty of the Pacific coastline, hiking through the natural splendor of the redwood forest, wine tasting, golf, whale watching and wildlife all await you and your family at Big Sur Lodge.
The lodge sits right on the edge of some of California’s most dramatic coastal landscape. You can walk down to nearby trails that wind through coastal scrub and offer views of the cliffs dropping straight into the ocean. If your dog enjoys forest walking, the redwood groves inland are accessible for day trips, and there’s decent exploring along the quieter stretches near the lodge itself.
The cottages give you more privacy than a typical hotel room, which works well for dogs. Each room has its own entrance, so you’re not constantly moving through shared hallways. The staff here understands that traveling with a dog means you need a setup that actually functions for managing a pet during your stay.
When booking, let the hotel staff know you’re bringing your dog so they can set you up in a dog-friendly room. Dogs need to stay on leash whenever you leave your cottage, and they can’t be left alone in the rooms—plan your outings accordingly or arrange for someone to stay with your dog. Keep your dog off the furniture and bedspreads; the lodge enforces a $100 fine for violations. Given how beautiful the surrounding area is for exploring, you’ll likely spend most of your time outside anyway rather than staying cooped up in your room.
