Centennial Park

Browns Valley Pkwy., Vacaville, California 95688

Centennial Park in Vacaville is a sprawling 265-acre expanse that feels less like a manicured park and more like actual open space—the kind of place where you can let your dog run for a while and still have plenty of room left to explore. The park’s developed section has four baseball fields (one lighted for evening games), four tennis courts, and five soccer fields managed by VUSC, so you’ll often see teams practicing or games underway, which adds a nice community feel to the place.

What makes it genuinely useful for dog owners is the extensive trail system winding through the property. These aren’t cramped paths—you get real distance to cover, and the trails are dog-friendly whether you’re doing a casual walk or something more substantial. The designated off-leash areas are a legitimate draw if your dog needs to burn off energy without the constraints of a leash. We found the trails manageable without being too technical, and the park’s size means you won’t feel crowded even on weekends when the sports fields are busy.

The surrounding Vacaville landscape is fairly typical for this part of Solano County—nothing dramatic, but pleasant enough for an outing. The park sits in that East Bay transition zone where things are starting to open up but you’re still close enough to the urban core for convenience. If you’re in the area and need a solid spot to get your dog moving with some actual distance to cover, Centennial Park delivers without any fuss. The combination of open trails, designated off-leash space, and the athletic facilities nearby (which means parking and basic amenities are well-maintained) make it a practical choice for a morning or afternoon with your dog. Bring water though—the park itself is fairly exposed in sections.
