Champagne Lakes RV Resort sits on 48 acres of fairly quiet countryside in Escondido, with enough space that you don’t feel crammed in with your neighbors. The property has three fishing lakes on site, which is nice if you want to cast a line without leaving the grounds. There are mature oak trees scattered throughout, giving you some natural shade, and the park offers cable TV hookups at the sites.
Beyond your RV spot, there’s a swimming pool and a recreation room if you want a break from the road. The resort handles storage too — both RV and mini storage if you need to stash gear or equipment. They offer daily, weekly, and monthly rates, so whether you’re stopping for a night or settling in for a while, there are options that work.
Location-wise, you’re positioned to reach San Diego attractions without being right in the thick of the city. Escondido itself has some good dining and shopping, and you’re close enough to venture south toward downtown or out to the beaches if the mood strikes.
Getting there depends on which direction you’re coming from. If you’re coming from Orange County or LA via I-5, take State Route 78 East toward Oceanside, then head east to I-15 North. Exit at Old Highway 395 and turn right onto the frontage road heading south — the entrance is about three-quarters of a mile ahead on your left. Coming from downtown San Diego or Mission Valley, take State Route 163 to I-15 North and use the same Old Highway 395 exit. From the east via I-8 (Arizona/Imperial County way), just jump on I-15 North and take that same Old Highway 395 exit. The directions converge at that frontage road point, so once you know that part, you’re set. The rural setting means it’s genuinely quieter than many RV parks, though you’ll want to call ahead about current rates and availability, especially if you’re planning to stay longer than a few days.
