The park sprawls across several fenced acres on the west side of Visalia with enough open space that dogs can actually run without constantly circling back. Mature trees provide genuine shade—not just a few scattered spots—which matters when the Central Valley heat kicks in. The main area is decomposed granite with patches of grass, while a separate fenced section accommodates small dogs, keeping the lap-dog crowd away from the larger, more boisterous runners.
Dogs can be off-leash throughout the fenced grounds. The park has water stations, though bringing your own water is wise given the heat and dust. Peak times tend to be early morning and early evening, particularly weekends; midday visits are quieter if you prefer a calmer scene. Hours run from dawn to dusk, so plan accordingly during shorter winter days.
The park sits near West Airport Drive in what’s essentially the industrial stretch of town, which means easy vehicle access but also that you’re not surrounded by restaurants or retail. It’s a solid fifteen-minute drive from downtown Visalia. The terrain is mostly flat with good sightlines, so you can actually watch your dog the entire time. Bring a poop bag dispenser since the park provides bags but you’ll go through them quickly on busy days. The decomposed granite surface is easier on paws than pure concrete but does kick up dust, so expect your dog to need a rinse afterward on warmer days.
