College Park Dog Park

3250 S Rose Ave, Oxnard, California

College Park’s dog park sits at the southeast edge of Oxnard’s sprawling residential landscape, with mature trees providing actual shade—a rarity in Ventura County’s coastal parks. The off-leash area feels genuinely separated from the play fields and basketball courts nearby, so you’re not constantly wary of a ball rolling into your dog’s space. The park’s elevation is negligible; what matters is the open layout that lets you see everything at once, which means fewer surprises with other dogs.

Dogs are off-leash in the designated dog park area only. The park requires a city dog license but doesn’t enforce breed or weight restrictions within the off-leash zone. Bring your own water—there’s a regular park water fountain, but the dog park itself doesn’t have dedicated water stations. The shade situation is legitimate here compared to other county parks; those trees around the perimeter make a real difference during summer afternoons, though the ground gets hot by mid-day. Weekday mornings tend to be quieter, while weekends draw steady crowds.

The park sits directly off South Rose Avenue with straightforward car access. Parking is immediate and free. The dog area is completely fenced and reasonably sized—about a quarter-acre with a mix of dirt and grass. No trails extend from the park itself; this is a contained off-leash spot, not a hiking destination. Hours are standard daylight access. The terrain inside is relatively flat and drains decently after rain. Bring a collapsible bowl if water matters to you; the walk to the main fountain isn’t far, but it’s an extra step. Late afternoon in summer is blazing; if you’re visiting July through September, aim for early morning or after 5 p.m.
