Stop by for a visit — we’d love to see you and your dog. The Visitor Center is right in Concord’s charming, historic downtown, so you’ll have plenty to explore while you’re picking up information. We can help you figure out where to go next with our interactive information kiosk, which makes finding your way around town straightforward. Grab maps, brochures, and guides covering everything from local attractions to transportation schedules. We also stock tickets and discounts to nearby spots, so you might save some money on activities you were already planning.
While you’re downtown, take advantage of the free parking and check out the restaurants and tap houses in the area. The downtown location works well if you want to make an afternoon of it — you and your dog can wander around and get a real feel for the neighborhood. Inside the Visitor Center itself, you’ll find several exhibits worth browsing. There’s a Mt. Diablo exhibit presented by Save Mt. Diablo, which gives context if you’re thinking about heading up to the mountain. The East Bay Regional Parks folks have put together a Concord Hills Park exhibit that highlights outdoor spaces. Local history buffs will appreciate the Historical Timeline presented by the Concord Historical Society, and there’s an arts exhibit from the Concord Art Association. A garden exhibit rounds things out.
The gift shop carries artisan goods and local merchandise, including greeting cards, postcards, and mugs from the Concord Art Association collection — useful if you want to grab something small for home. Free wi-fi and charging stations are available if you need to top up your phone before heading out. Staff can point you toward the best parks and trails in the area where dogs are welcome, which beats wandering around guessing which spots allow them.
