Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park in Ontario spreads across 150 acres and gives you a real break from the surrounding urban sprawl. You get two fishing lakes that are well-stocked, which means even if you haven’t cast a line in years, you’ve got a decent shot at catching something. The water stays calm and quiet, especially in early morning when most people haven’t arrived yet.

The swim complex here is genuinely worth the trip during summer months. There are water slides that kids actually get excited about and a splash pad area where dogs can’t go with you, but the general grounds work well for cooling off before or after swimming. You’ll want to bring your dog to explore the open green spaces while family members are in the water.

The park has multiple picnic areas set up thoughtfully. There are four large covered shelters that work for bigger groups, plus two smaller ones, and scattered throughout you’ll find picnic tables and barbecue grills. This setup means you’re not fighting for limited seating like at some parks. We’ve done birthday parties here and the designated shelter areas keep things organized without feeling cramped. The open grass areas let dogs move around while you’re eating without everyone bunched together.

One thing to keep in mind: your dog needs to stay on a leash no longer than six feet at all times, which is a county requirement. Since the park is right in Ontario, you’re close enough to get here easily from most of San Bernardino County, but far enough that it actually feels removed from the immediate city feel. The combination of fishing, swimming facilities, and picnic infrastructure makes this place work for days when you want different activities rather than just a walk. Check the park’s website for current entrance fees and any seasonal hour changes before heading out.
