De Anza Park is a spacious neighborhood park in Ontario, located at the corner of Phillips Street and South Euclid Avenue. The park was named after Juan Bautista De Anza, who was the first to open a route across the mountains and desert from Sonora, Mexico to the San Gabriel Mission, the nucleus of the city of Los Angeles.

We took our dog here on a Saturday morning and found plenty of shade under the mature trees scattered across the grounds. The multi-use path is a solid option for a walk—it’s paved and wide enough that you’re not fighting with other pedestrians when foot traffic picks up. The path doesn’t loop back on itself in a complicated way, so it’s straightforward to navigate even if you’re not familiar with the park layout.

The facilities here go beyond what you’d expect from a typical neighborhood park. There’s a community center with reservable rooms if you need a covered space, actual restrooms that are regularly maintained, and a large parking lot that rarely feels crowded. That matters when you’re trying to avoid the stress of hunting for a spot while your dog is antsy to get out.

The park has the usual athletic fields—soccer, football, softball—plus basketball, volleyball, futsal and pickleball courts. If you’re visiting with kids as well as a dog, there’s a children’s play area with equipment for ages 2 to 12, and a separate tot lot for toddlers, so everyone gets appropriate space. The picnic areas are distributed throughout the park, so you have options for where to settle with your dog after your walk.

It’s a genuinely useful neighborhood spot rather than a destination park, but that’s exactly what makes it work well for local dog owners who need a reliable place to get some activity and fresh air without making a big production out of it.
