819 Donahue St, Santa Rosa, California 95401

DeTurk Park’s most immediately noticeable feature is how much actual ground there is—this isn’t a cramped corner lot but a sprawling fenced area that gives dogs real room to run, with distinct sections so smaller dogs aren’t getting bowled over by the larger crowd. The main field is open grass with scattered shade trees, and a separate small-dog enclosure lets pups under 25 pounds or so have their own space without worrying about the bigger animals. The entire park is fenced securely, which means you can let your dog off-leash with genuine peace of mind rather than white-knuckling a long line the whole time.

Dogs are allowed throughout the off-leash areas during posted hours. The park provides water stations, which matters on Santa Rosa’s hotter days—bring a collapsible bowl if you want to be thorough, though the fixtures themselves are accessible. Shade is available but spotty; the north side of the grounds has tree coverage, while the south and center areas are more exposed. Peak times tend to be late afternoon and weekends, so if you prefer a calmer session with fewer dogs, mornings are noticeably quieter.

The site sits at the corner of Donahue Street and Spring Street, pretty accessible from downtown Santa Rosa and Highway 101. The surface is mostly mowed grass with some harder-packed earth in high-traffic spots, which drains reasonably well but can get muddy after rain. Hours run from dawn to dusk, though exact seasonal variations sometimes shift. Nearby you’ll find other Santa Rosa parks and the Spring Lake Regional Park if you want to combine your trip with a longer walk on actual trails. The dog park itself is free to use, and while it’s not elaborate, it handles what it sets out to do—provide local dogs a safe place to run without a fussy membership or complicated rules.
