The dog park sits on a hillside in Eagle Rock with views across the city—on clear mornings you can see all the way to downtown LA. The terrain slopes noticeably, which means dogs get a real workout chasing each other uphill. Two sections divide the park, one for small dogs and one for larger dogs, both fenced and genuinely spacious with native plants scattered throughout rather than just bare dirt. The hard-packed dirt surface drains well after rain. At roughly 1,100 feet elevation, the morning air tends to be cleaner than down in the flatlands. Scattered oak and acacia trees provide shade, though the park is exposed enough that early or late visits work better during hot months. Parking is free in the lot along Eagle Vista Drive with about 20 spaces; weekends and Saturday afternoons tend to fill the lot quickly. Eagle Rock Boulevard runs nearby through a walkable commercial district with cafes if you want coffee before or after your visit.
Dogs must be off-leash only within the fenced areas. Outside those boundaries requires a leash. A water fountain for dogs runs year-round near the entrance. The park closes at sunset. Parking costs nothing, and no entrance fee applies.
The neighborhood feels quieter than valley parks closer to downtown. Weekday mornings draw a smaller, more regular crowd of locals, while weekends bring families from across the region. Winter and spring are peak seasons when the hillside greens up and temperatures stay mild. In July and August, most visitors shift their outings to early morning or dusk to avoid the heat.
