El Charro Restaurant in downtown Woodland is one of those places where you can actually relax with your dog without feeling like you’re inconveniencing anyone. The outdoor patio is genuinely dog-friendly—staff don’t just tolerate dogs here, they seem to actually like having them around. We sat at one of the umbrella-shaded tables on a warm afternoon and had no trouble keeping our dog comfortable while we ordered.

The menu is solidly traditional Mexican food. We had carnitas tacos that came with fresh corn tortillas, and the carne asada was cooked properly—charred on the outside, tender inside. They do enchiladas and burritos that look generous on the plate, and if you’re in the mood for fajitas, those sizzle out to your table. The kitchen clearly isn’t cutting corners with pre-made sauces; everything tastes like actual ingredients rather than something from a packet.
