The 1.3-acre off-leash area at Hermon Park sits on the east side of the park in a relatively quiet section of the Arroyo Seco. Getting there takes a bit of navigation—you’ll follow the park lane from the main entrance past the tennis courts and children’s play area, heading toward the Avenue 60 Bridge. Parking is plentiful at the end of that lane, and then it’s just a short walk underneath the bridge itself to reach the dog park.

The setup here works well if you’re looking for space without the crowds you’d find at some other LA off-leash areas. The park is split into two sections: one for larger dogs and a separate smaller enclosure for tiny or nervous dogs who might get overwhelmed. This separation actually makes a difference—you’ll notice smaller dogs in the dedicated area tend to play more freely instead of hanging back nervously.

The whole Hermon Park property has a lot going on around it, with lighted tennis courts, picnic tables, and barbecue pits scattered throughout, plus some public art installations if you want to walk around before or after. It’s not a destination spot where everything centers on the dog park, which means it feels more like a neighborhood amenity than a tourist attraction. That’s honestly refreshing.

One important note: food isn’t permitted in the off-leash area itself, so plan accordingly if you’re bringing snacks. The picnic tables elsewhere in the park are fair game though. Because it’s tucked away a bit from the main drag, it tends to be less packed during peak hours, which makes it easier to actually socialize your dog without dealing with total chaos. The terrain is fairly open and flat, so it works well for dogs of different activity levels.
