Located just off Interstate 101 in Woodland Hills, the Hilton Woodland Hills offers a convenient base for exploring the San Fernando Valley. It’s about a 35-minute drive to downtown Los Angeles if you want to venture that direction, but honestly, there’s plenty to do locally. The hotel sits in a commercial area surrounded by shops and restaurants, so you won’t feel isolated, though it’s not right in the heart of a walkable neighborhood.
The main appeal for traveling with your dog is that they welcome dogs here without the usual restrictions you find at many chain hotels. You get standard Hilton amenities—a pool, fitness center, and decent on-site dining—along with a staff that’s actually okay with you having a dog in your room. During our stay, the housekeeping team didn’t give us any grief about the water bowls or anything like that, which is refreshing.
The neighborhood around the hotel is fairly suburban and car-dependent. There are some small green spaces nearby, but you’ll need to drive to really stretch your dog’s legs. The Commons at Calabasas, a nice mixed-use area with some walkable spots, is about 10 minutes away if you want variety. Topanga State Park with its excellent hiking trails is also within reasonable driving distance.
The rooms are standard Hilton—clean, functional, nothing fancy, but they have enough space to move around without feeling cramped. In-room coffee, desk space if you’re working, and reliable Wi-Fi. The staff at check-in can give you tips about nearby parks and walking areas if you ask, which helps since the immediate surroundings are mostly parking lots and commercial buildings.
If you’re in Woodland Hills for business or just passing through, this works fine. The dog-friendly policy is genuine rather than grudging, which makes the stay easier than it might be elsewhere.
