Lake Hollywood Park sits high in the Hollywood Hills with views that make the short drive worthwhile. You get the classic postcard view of the Hollywood sign from the hilltop, and on clear days, the city sprawls out below you. The park itself is pretty straightforward—open grassy slopes, a loop walking path that takes maybe 20-30 minutes, and scattered picnic tables if you want to stop and eat.
I took my dog here on a weekday morning and appreciated how spread out it is. Unlike some LA parks that get crowded fast, there’s enough space that even when other people showed up, we didn’t feel packed in. The grass is maintained well enough, and the walking path is easy going—nothing steep or technical. There’s a small parking lot at the base, though it fills up on weekends, so going early helps.
The dog situation here is straightforward. Dogs can roam on the grassy areas and walk the path, and most people seem to let their dogs interact naturally. I didn’t see a designated dog area, just a general dog-friendly park where you manage your own dog. The Hollywood sign views make it worth the trip if you’re in the area anyway, and it’s a nice option when you want something with actual scenery rather than just another neighborhood park.
The loop path is mellow enough for older dogs or a casual outing, but there’s enough elevation change that younger dogs with energy will appreciate the workout. Bring water—there’s not much shade up there, and on warm days the sun hits hard. It’s about a ten-minute drive from the Hollywood Walk of Fame if you’re combining activities.
