This trail is managed by the Conejo Recreation & Park District and the Conejo Open Space Foundation. It’s a moderate 4.5-mile round trip with about 700 feet of elevation gain and loss, starting from the parking lot at Avenida de Los Arboles and Big Sky in Thousand Oaks.

You’ll head out on Mesa Trail, then connect to Stagecoach Bluff Trail toward Lizard Rock. From there, the path descends past the water treatment plant down to the stream, where Paradise Falls appears not far upstream. A set of steps leads down to the pool beneath the waterfall, with a shaded picnic table under an oak tree nearby—a nice spot to rest before continuing. Just keep your dog out of the water; swimming isn’t allowed and playing in the stream isn’t recommended here.

If you want to extend your time, push a bit further upstream to Little Falls, another peaceful picnic area that’s worth the short walk. The return loop follows Indian Creek Trail back to where you started, which breaks up the walk nicely and shows you different parts of the landscape.

Dogs need to stay on a leash no longer than six feet the entire way and must remain under control. You’re responsible for cleaning up after your dog, so bring waste bags. The parking area at Arboles & Big Sky fills up on weekends, so arriving early helps ensure you get a spot. The trail offers a good mix of shade and open sections, and the elevation gain is steady but manageable for most dogs in decent shape. The waterfall is most impressive during wetter months, so if you’re going in dry season, don’t expect a dramatic cascade—but the canyon scenery and creek itself are pleasant year-round.
