Market Street Blade & Barrel Steak House sits right downtown on Market Street in Redding, and it’s one of the few nicer restaurants in the area that actually welcomes dogs on the patio without making a fuss about it. We took our dog on a Friday evening and the staff treated her like any other guest—no special accommodation requests, no weird looks, just a spot at one of the outdoor tables and water in a regular bowl.
The menu focuses on quality beef. They source USDA Prime and Reserve Choice cuts, which you can taste in the thickness and marbling of what comes out. Beyond steaks, there’s stuffed chicken breast, maple glazed pork tenderloin, fresh fish specials that rotate, and a solid selection of gourmet salads if you’re not in a meat mood. The portions are generous without being ridiculous.
The patio is pleasant enough for an evening out—nothing fancy, but comfortable. On warmer nights it’s the place to be since it gives you that outdoor dining feel while your dog gets fresh air instead of being stuck inside. The bar is fully stocked if you want a cocktail or wine while you eat. We found the service attentive without hovering, which matters when you’re managing both a meal and keeping an eye on your dog.
Since this is Redding and not a major metropolitan area, having a proper steakhouse that doesn’t treat dogs like problems is genuinely useful. There aren’t tons of other upscale dinner options where you can bring your dog along comfortably. It’s worth knowing about if you’re passing through Shasta County or living in the area and want an actual night out without arranging a sitter.
