Mile Rock Beach

Mile Rock Beach

Mile Rock Beach in San Francisco offers a peaceful setting, perfect for a leisurely stroll with your dog while exploring the natural beauty of Lands End Park. This beach has a collection of rocks and driftwood where your dog can play off-leash.

To reach the beach, start on the 1.5-mile Lands End Coastal Trail from the parking area. Once you pass the third bench on the trail, you’ll come across a path leading down the cliff towards Mile Rock. There is a 243-step staircase leading down to the beach, which has some tricky areas, so be careful and keep your dog on a leash for safety.

Mile Rock Beach is known for the stacked rocks left by visitors. The beach itself is small and rugged, scattered with boulders and driftwood. During high tide, the shore is narrow, but when the tide is out, your dog can enjoy running around the boulder-covered beach.

Head further inland, and you’ll come across the Lands End Labyrinth, an intriguing stone structure fashioned like a maze. It offers a unique perspective of the bridge in the distance. You and your four-legged companion can enjoy this hidden gem on the southern edge of the Golden Gate, along the central shores of Lands End Park.
